Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. (1 Tim. 6:17-18)

The definition of rich (part 2)

17 ways in which God defines wealth for a Christ follower:
  1. Strong relationship with Him (explore the lives of Enoch, Abraham, Moses, and David)
  2. Spirit-controlled life (Ephesians 5:18)
  3. Transformed, renewed mind (Romans 12:2)
  4. Solid, God-centered marriage (Proverbs 18:22)
  5. Children (Psalm 127:4-5)
  6. All needs met by God (Philippians 4:19)
  7. Total reliance on Him (I Peter 5:6-7)
  8. Pursuing God's purpose for our lives (Psalm 20:4; Jeremiah 29:11)
  9. Helping people (Leviticus 25:35; Proverbs 14:21b; Acts 20:35)
  10. Strong relationships with other friends/believers (Proverbs 14:20b)
  11. Giving back to Him (Malachi 3:10)
  12. Talents, abilities (Exodus 31:3)
  13. Wealth and the ability to produce (Deuteronomy 8:18)
  14. Long life (I Chronicles 29:28; Proverbs 3:16)
  15. Commendation from the Lord (Luke 19:17)
  16. Wisdom (I Kings 3:11-12)
  17. Honor (Proverbs 3:16)
True wealth for God's children is so much more than money and things. The true blessing of God comes through solid, Christ-honoring relationships, giving, helping others, and using the talents, abilities, and resources He has given to further His Kingdom.
